Joint-Stock Company « The metalware plant "Dynamo" » is already known as one of the largest manufacturers of fencing_sport weapons for more than half a century, not only in our country, but also abroad. The factory has come a long way in process of evolution and development.
The history of the enterprise originates in 1937 when industrial complex " Dynamo " was founded on the basis of workshops DSO «METALIST» as subordinate of Voroshilovgrad region "Dynamo" . The factory became connected to UUSSSPT "Dynamo" (the Union of Ukraine Soviet Sports Society for Physical Training "Dynamo"), which already contained the sport cub " Dynamo " and a few manufacturers of sporting inventories.
 Industrial complex " Dynamo " was situated at a rented premises on Artem street and Charles-Marx's street. Workshops were located in sheds. Mechanical and forge workshops were located on Artem street, while grinding and galvanic work on Charles-Marx's street some 3 km away. Workshops were lit electrically even in the daytime, as the windows could not provide sufficient lighting. There were a total of 70 employees working on this group of industrial enterprises. They made sports foils, epees, sabers and also bicycle spokes which were made of cables bought amongst unsuitable materials from the mines. The only working machinery at these industrial premises were several lathes and a self-made woodworking machine (to make handles for fencing weapons). The machine for processing of wires was also made by workers of the group of industrial enterprises. The blades were shaped by hammer-smith manually, as there were no mechanical hammers. A hammer smith with assistance of his colleagues stretched the blades manually till the predetermined size was achieved. Then these blades were transported to grinding workshop on Charles-Marx's street where they were ground, buffed and nickel-plated, before retuning them to Artem street for final assembly. With the start of World War II, the majority of workers of the group of industrial enterprises were sent away to war front. Considering the lack of labor force and absence of materials, the group of industrial enterprises went into liquidation, and all documentation and valuable equipments were evacuated by the order of Ukrainian-Soviet «Dynamo».
 Following the end of the Second World War in November 1947, the group of industrial enterprises «Dynamo» was re-established, but already as the Experimental factory of sports hardware «Dynamo» at which worked only 15 people to begin with. In 1948 workshops on Frunze street were added resulting an increase in production and release of bars and fencing weapons. On the advice of Ministerial council of USSR and presidium of Ukrainian Republic in 1950 the decision was made to finance «Dynamo» for construction of new factory workshops. In 1955 the factory started it's development and release of electric fencing weapons. In the meantime construction of the factory continued and by June 1956 many workshops had already been constructed and fully equipped. The enterprise's name changed in December 1966, as the factory began to be referred to as the Open Company " The metalware plant «Dynamo»". Later it was equipped with the highly-efficient machinery and specialized in release of fencing weapons, bars, simulators, cases for storage of the documentation and other products. Blades which were produced by the factory, were considered to be one of the world's best samples . Electrofoils and the electroswords made at the enterprise, were employed in Olympic games of 1964 in Tokyo, 1968 in Mexico City, 1980 in Moscow and had been highly respected by the participants in the competitions.
S.J.Kolchinsky, the trainer of USSR's combined fencing team, in his book « I am the trainer », published in 1975 wrote: « There were still remaining a whole three months up to the Olympic games. We understood that keeping the sporting-form for such length of time was impossible. Therefore, having concentrated most energy on training process, we focused attention on improvement of techniques and resolution of tactical tasks.  On such program we remembered the necessities of studying strengths and weaknesses of our future contenders. It was necessary to imitate each of them … the most difficult of all was playing the role of more than two meter tall "Bogdana Gansiora". I was helped in my task by skillful-masters at the factory of Voroshilovgrad "Dynamo" where fencing weapons are produced. They had made a unique sword. Its blade exceeded almost twice the normal length. Armed by such a sword, having the advantage of length, we gradually perfected defensive and attacking actions against the opponent fencer . »
 The newspaper "News" No.187 (15886), 11th of August 1980 wrote: « "Voroshilovgrad masters of steel lightnings" have made and dispatched to Moscow a party of electrofoils and the electroswords, intended for Olympians. This was the hard-work's result of Voroshilovgrad's best weapon makers, who worked on the production of these sports inventories ».Two years later at a commercial and industrial exhibition in London the swords which were produced at "Dynamo" factory were recognized as the best in the world. This was in addition to the maximum awards received at other major highly represented exhibitions and fairs which were held in Austria, France, Yugoslavia and Finland.
The bars which have been produced at the factory "Dynamo", were used at competitions of various levels. They have been highly valued by the leading weightlifting sportsmen. The factory has fulfilled the needs of the majority of sportsmen and sporting organizations in the country, while selling the goods abroad too. Almost 90 % of all the bars which are used in the USSR have been made at the factory "Dynamo".
 The factory status changed in due course, from an experimental factory for sports hardware, it became to be a well known manufacturer of fencing-sports equipment. The name of the enterprise was also changed during it's evolution and since September, 2000 the factory began to be known as the Joint-Stock Company «The metalware plant Dynamo ».
Now the factory specializes in release of spare blades for fencing weapons. The techniques for manufacturing of blades were continuously improved throughout existence of the factory. There are two registered "patent" held on these improved manufacturing techniques. Blades are produced by a new method of forging without covering, and also with an ionic-plasma covering of different shades. The given method provides durability and safety of operation. As always bars for heavy athletic (weightlifting), crossbeams, volleyball and tennis racks are manufactured by the enterprise..
Products from our factory are not only sold in nearby neighboring countries , but also in many other countries abroad and overseas, such as the USA, the Great Britain, Germany, Japan, France, Romania, Hungary and others.
The impact of the enterprise activities in the native city isn't insignificant: The factory supports development of sports in the city of Lugansk, being the sponsor of sports club " Linya-51 ", and Lugansk middle school of general knowledge No. 51 is also under patronage of our factory.
The enterprise has not overlooked it's own development. From the second half of 2008 at the factory, a new program of operation was utilized: modernization of the equipment, repair of industrial premises, perfection of the "know-how" and a higher quality assurance of the outputted products, introduction of technologies for minimization of environmental contamination, optimization in use of floor spaces and resources, improvement of professional skill and expertise, research in new methods of activity.
Today the plant of metalware "Dynamo" opens a new page in it's history. What memories would it leave us with? We shall soon know. But meanwhile there are many tasks ahead of us, and you are our partner. Let us make history together!
